About Aragonite
Aragonite rises from oceanic depths as crystallized coral memory, its calcium carbonate essence holding the ancient wisdom of mollusks, pearls, and coral reefs within orthorhombic crystal structures that twin and cluster like underwater gardens frozen in time. Born in the high-pressure wombs of marine environments, this polymorph of calcite carries the secrets of transformation and impermanence, for it knows that all structures must eventually surrender to change and evolve into new forms. Named for Molina de Aragón in Spain where it was first discovered in 1797, Aragonite whispers the truth that stability and change are eternal dance partners, each crystal a testament to the power of metamorphosis and the beauty found in life's constant flux. These formations appear in caves as flowstone poetry, in hot springs as mineral verse, and in the shells of sea creatures as nature's own sacred architecture, yet their true magic lies in their ability to ground scattered energies while simultaneously teaching us that even the most solid foundations are merely temporary stopping points on the infinite journey of becoming.
Mohs Hardness
Aragonite's gentle 3.5 to 4 hardness reflects its teaching that true strength comes from flexibility and the wisdom to yield when necessary. Like water that shapes stone through patience rather than force, this mineral shows us the power of gentle persistence.
Handling: Handle with care due to moderate softness and potential for scratching. Store separately from harder stones. Sensitive to acidic solutions which cause effervescence and damage.

How to Use
Aragonite's carbonate composition requires protection from acids while its moderate hardness demands careful handling to prevent scratches and damage.
- Avoid acid exposure including vinegar cleaners which cause dissolving effervescence
- Handle gently due to 3.5-4 hardness and potential for scratching
- Store away from harder minerals to prevent surface damage
- Protect from chemical cleaning products and extreme pH solutions
Care & Cleansing
Brief WaterRecommended
Safe gentle cleaning that won't react with calcium carbonate structure
Excellent for clearing stress and negative energy without chemical interaction
Powerful reconnection with mineral origins and natural grounding
Gentle energetic cleansing without chemical risks
Soft lunar energy enhances calming and grounding properties
Avoid
Causes immediate effervescence and dissolution of calcium carbonate
Acetic acid reacts violently with carbonate minerals causing damage
Chemical reactions can damage or dissolve the mineral structure
Storage
Store in dry environment away from acidic substances and harder minerals. Use soft padding to prevent scratches and maintain its gentle grounding energy.
Safety
Carbonate Acid Reaction Risk
highCalcium carbonate reacts with acids causing effervescence, bubbling, and dissolution. Avoid all acidic cleaners, vinegar solutions, and chemical products that could damage the crystal structure.
Moderate Hardness Scratching
medium3.5-4 Mohs hardness makes Aragonite susceptible to scratching from harder materials. Requires careful handling and protective storage away from other minerals.
Cleaning Product Reactivity
mediumSensitive to cleaning products with acidic or alkaline components. Use only mild soap and water for physical cleaning to prevent chemical damage.
Aragonite's carbonate composition makes it highly reactive to acids, requiring careful protection from chemical damage while honoring its gentle grounding nature.
