    About Diopside

Diopside crystallises deep within the Earth’s mantle, emerging as vibrant green crystals or dark prismatic blades. This pyroxene mineral forms when molten rock cools slowly or metamorphic rocks are transformed under high pressure. Some specimens contain a chatoyant line like a cat’s eye, while others showcase intense forest‑green hues reminiscent of alpine meadows. Diopside encourages compassion and emotional renewal, inviting you to reconnect with the natural world and to harmonise heart and mind.

Diopside typically has a Mohs hardness between 5.5 and 6.5:contentReference[oaicite:4]{index=4}.

Handling: While fairly hard, diopside has distinct cleavage planes and can break if struck. Handle with care and protect it from hard knocks.

    Origins

    • Russia
    • Pakistan
    • USA

    How to Use

Diopside is moderately hard but cleaves easily. Protect it from impact and keep it away from corrosive chemicals.

    • Avoid sharp blows or dropping which can fracture the crystal
    • Do not expose to strong acids or solvents
    • Suitable for water cleansing but dry thoroughly
    • Store separately to avoid scratches from harder minerals

    Care & Cleansing

    Brief Water

    Recommended

    Running WaterPreferred

Gently cleanses and refreshes the stone

    Sage/Cedar SmokePreferred

    Purifies energy without chemical exposure

    Soil or Plant EnergyPreferred

    Restores its connection to nature

    Sunlight

Brief exposure recharges but prolonged sunlight may fade some specimens

    Avoid

    Chemical Cleaners

Acids and solvents can damage the surface

    Storage

Store diopside in a padded container away from harder stones and extreme temperatures. Avoid stacking heavy items on top of it.

    Safety

    Cleavage Fracture

    high

Distinct cleavage planes mean the stone can split if dropped or struck. Handle gently.

    Acid Sensitivity

    medium

Strong acids and solvents can etch or weaken diopside. Clean with mild soap and water only.

Diopside is safe for external use but not intended for ingestion or elixir preparation. Handle with care due to its cleavage.
