About Charoite
Charoite is the swirling purple heart of Siberia’s steppes, a metamorphic gem that looks like a cosmic storm trapped in stone. Its lavender, lilac and violet waves twist and fold alongside veins of black, white and gold, creating a tapestry of movement frozen in time. Formed when limestone came into contact with alkali-rich fluids deep beneath the Aldan Shield, Charoite is a testament to geological pressure turned to beauty. It encourages you to embrace transformation: to let old patterns be dissolved and new dreams crystallise in their place, much as ancient rock was reshaped into this rare treasure.
Mohs Hardness
Charoite’s hardness of 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale reflects its metamorphic origins. Neither too soft nor too hard, but requiring mindful handling.
Handling: Charoite is tough yet slightly brittle. Handle with care, avoid sharp blows and keep it away from acids and extreme heat.

How to Use
Charoite’s fibrous structure and moderate hardness require gentle handling and protection from chemicals and impact.
- Do not expose to harsh chemicals or acid cleaners
- Avoid dropping or striking the stone to prevent splintering
- Brief rinsing is safe; do not soak or use salt baths
- Store separately from harder stones to avoid scratching
Care & Cleansing
Brief WaterRecommended
Purifies energy through vibration without physical contact
Clears energy gently and honours the stone’s spiritual qualities
Quick rinse clears dust; must be dried immediately
Soft lunar recharge aligns with its soothing violet hues
Short exposure can energise but long exposure may fade colour
Avoid
Salt and chemicals can damage the fibrous structure
Storage
Store Charoite wrapped in soft cloth in a cool, dry place away from harder stones or sharp edges.
Safety
Etching and Discolouration
mediumExposure to acids or harsh cleaners can etch Charoite’s surface and alter its colour. Clean only with mild soap and water if necessary.
Splintering Risk
mediumThe stone’s fibrous structure can splinter if dropped or hit. Handle with care and avoid using for massage.
