    About Coral Jade

Coral Jade is the ocean’s memory set in stone, the fossilized skeletons of ancient coral reefs transformed into agate over millions of years. Silica‑rich waters replaced the organic structure of corals with microcrystalline quartz, preserving delicate floral patterns like a garden frozen beneath the waves. Colours range from creamy whites and soft pinks to warm browns and saffron, each piece a snapshot of prehistoric tides and the creatures that once thrived in them. Coral Jade invites you to honour the cycles of life and change, to anchor yourself in the knowledge that beauty can emerge from transformation.

Fossil coral (agatized coral) typically ranges from 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale, reflecting its transformation into microcrystalline quartz.

Handling: Coral Jade is fairly hard but can still chip or crack if dropped. Treat it as you would other chalcedonies: avoid strong chemicals and protect from sharp impacts.

    Origins

    • Taiwan
    • China

    How to Use

Coral Jade’s quartz matrix is durable, but some pieces may contain pores or organic remnants. Gentle care preserves its intricate patterns.

    • Avoid strong acids or alkalis which can damage the quartz surface
    • Handle gently to prevent chipping despite moderate hardness
    • Safe for rinsing but avoid prolonged soaking to protect any porous areas
    • Store separately from harder stones to prevent scratching

    Care & Cleansing

    Brief Water

    Recommended

    Running WaterPreferred

Washes away energy and dust without damaging the stone

    Sage/Sweetgrass SmokePreferred

Purifies without moisture or harsh chemicals

    MoonlightPreferred

Enhances its gentle colours and ancient energy

    Sunlight

Short exposure brightens colours; prolonged exposure may fade soft hues

    Avoid

    Salt or Acid Baths

Salt and acids can etch the quartz and harm any residual organic material

    Storage

Store Coral Jade in a padded box or cloth pouch away from humidity and harder gems. Keep it out of strong chemical fumes or acidic environments.

    Safety

    Etching Risk

    high

Acids and strong cleaning agents can damage the fossilised coral matrix. Clean only with gentle soap and water.

    Chipping Hazard

    medium

Although fairly hard, Coral Jade can chip if dropped or knocked. Handle and store with care.

Coral Jade is fossilized coral; it is safe to handle externally but not intended for ingestion or use in drinking water.
