Peridot
Lime‑green light of renewal and abundance
Lime‑green light of renewal and abundance
About Peridot
Peridot is sunlight crystallized into olive‑green gems. Formed deep in the Earth’s mantle, this gem‑quality olivine is brought to the surface by volcanic activity and occasionally arrives from meteorites. Its color ranges from bright lime to deep olive depending on iron content, and its translucent crystals sparkle like drops of green light scattered across basalt. Energetically, peridot carries the warmth of a midsummer afternoon, inviting growth, abundance and renewal.
Metaphysical Properties
Mohs Hardness
Peridot has a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7, making it moderately hard but softer than quartz. It can be scratched by household dust and other gems.
Handling: Avoid rough handling or hard blows that can chip or fracture peridot. Do not expose it to acids or high heat. Clean gently and store in a padded pouch separate from harder stones.
