    About Prehnite

Prehnite forms in radiating clusters of pale green crystals that look like little moons or grape clusters. It grows in the cavities of basaltic rocks when mineral-rich hydrothermal fluids cool and solidify, resulting in translucent masses with a waxy sheen. Sometimes dotted with black epidote needles, prehnite evokes calm, spring rain and new growth. Energetically it fosters unconditional love and trust in the unfolding of life.

Prehnite has a Mohs hardness of about 6 to 6.5:contentReference[oaicite:12]{index=12}:contentReference[oaicite:13]{index=13}, making it relatively soft compared to quartz.

Handling: Avoid dropping or striking prehnite against hard surfaces. Do not expose it to harsh chemicals or high heat. Clean gently and store in a soft pouch or box to prevent scratches.

    How to Use

Prehnite’s moderate hardness and somewhat brittle nature mean it must be handled gently. Harsh chemicals and mechanical cleaning can damage it, so use mild soap and water, store separately and avoid high heat.

    • Clean prehnite with lukewarm water and mild soap, using a soft cloth or toothbrush; rinse and dry thoroughly:contentReference[oaicite:14]{index=14}.
    • Avoid bleach, ammonia and other harsh chemicals which can damage the stone:contentReference[oaicite:15]{index=15}.
    • Do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaners; vibrations and heat may fracture prehnite:contentReference[oaicite:16]{index=16}.
    • Store prehnite separately in a soft-lined container to prevent scratches:contentReference[oaicite:17]{index=17}.
    • Keep it away from open flames and extreme heat:contentReference[oaicite:18]{index=18}.
